Our Story: From the UK to the Canadian Prairies
We are Dave and Karen, in 2011, we left the UK to build a new life in Canada. What began as a bold leap toward wide-open landscapes became the foundation for our farm, our craft, and Garden River Bags.
A Working Farm & a Herd We Love
On our small farm we raise and have raised horses, chickens, ducks, pigs, and a cherished herd of registered Nubian goats. These gentle, spirited animals taught us patience, dedication, and the rhythms of farm life. With more fresh goat milk than we could ever use, we learned to craft artisan goat milk soap and beauty products—sharing the goodness of our herd with our community.
Turning Challenge into Craft
In 2021, a serious work accident left Dave disabled and living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Searching for purpose and a way to keep his hands and mind engaged, he turned to leatherwork. What started as therapy became a passion—and eventually, a business.
Garden River Bags: Handcrafted with Purpose
Karen and Dave create handmade leather and vegan leather goods on their small Canadian farm. Each bag, wallet, and accessory is crafted from quality materials with attention to practical design and durability. Our work reflects a commitment to traditional craftsmanship and creating unique, functional pieces built to last.
